Crowds ignored man's body on Osaka street for 2 months
December 19, 2003

A man's body was left lying on a busy street outside a department store in Japan's second largest city for two months before anyone bothered to tell authorities.

Police said the body, believed to be that of a homeless man, was found in front of the store in a crowded downtown area of Osaka.

The body was partially decomposed by the time authorities were alerted and collected it.

Police said the street is among Osaka's busiest, with about a million people passing through the area each day.

The man's death was not suspicious, police said.
