I have confirmation that Won Tae, the original proprietor of the popular Taco al Puebla in Haeundae has returned to Busan and will be plying his trade once more. He will be setting up shop with a freshly renovated kitchen (set up to his specifications) at U2 Bar in Haeundae. He will be closed on Mondays, but will be open from around noon to about midnight on Sunday and Tuesday thru Thursday, and noon to 2am (depending if he has any daily supplies left) on Friday and Saturday.

Once the menu is finalized and printed, I will post a pic that will include the menu options with prices.
U2 Bar is located across the street from the Novotel Hotel, even closer to Haeundae beach than his original location.

Won Tae will be open for business this Friday (April 30, 2009) starting at noon. I know alot of people will be happy that he is back and down by the beach again. Come down and support a great guy that provides a great service and product.

will he be putting lettuce back into the tacos, instead of the gawd-awful ever present cabbage confetti that the lady who took over his shop has decided to use?

I'm sure he will, Ewok, and you will not find peas or corn in the burritos either. The woman who took over the original Taco al Puebla location obviously cut corners and Koreanized the menu. Won Tae will be cooking to his previous standard. SOme spelling errors sent the menu back to the printers, it will be ready Friday afternoon. I will try to get a pic of it up Friday night or by sometime on Saturday for sure. Regardless, its the same great menu, the same great food, and the same great guy at a new location.

Ah... no "Cabbage, Corn and Peas" on western fast food... maybe there IS hope for humanity after all...

Too bad he can't get himself a decent place.

What a gorgeous day today was in Pusan. Everyone who is anyone was out at the beach, wading into the waves, soaking up the sun, checking out the local talent. I saw more Westerners in five minutes at Haeundae today than I've seen in all of the last two years. And the girls. Oh my goodness. So much beauty. So much beauty.

When it was time to go, we went in search of Won Tae and his famous tacos. Alas, U2 was padlocked. At 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. No signage indicating when it might be open, or anything about tacos. Too bad. I'd been hearing about Taco al Pueblo and Won Tae for two years, and was really looking forward to trying it.

that must have been a fluke. i hit up won tae twice on a couple different weekends. his food is pretty good.

I drive in front of u2 every day, at around 3-4 pm. Padlocked, every time. No clue when they open regularly.

people should be aware of taco senorita in case they head to U2 and it isn't open. Im not the best person to give directions, but could in a pinch. the food from U2 is just slightly better, but both are quite good for living in SK.

I cannot endorse her anymore. She has koreanized the ingredients way too much since she took over from won-Tae. She even stopped putting lettuce in the tacos, and replaced it with shredded cabbage (like the stuff that passes "salad" at Chinese restaurants). Also, the tacos are now about half the size they used to be, but still the same price. But on the uptake, she seems to have more korean customers now... (and it's all about the business).
