Was in E-mart today, the one near Seomyeon close to MunJeon station and was flabbergasted to find Salt & Vinegar crisps. Well on the packet they are billed as "Low Salt Red Vinegar Flavored Potato Chips" and they are made by E-Mart in their "Smart Eating" product range, so they are not amongst the regular potato chip section.

Taste verdict: Surprisingly good. The vinegar taste is subtle but noticeable. Being a Brit I am used to super intense salt and vinegar flavours, but not having that available here these are not a bad alternative. They are crinkle cut.

Yeah, they're ok, pretty weak on flavour compared to the stinking ones back home~at least they're low in sodium. Sun chips released a tomato sauce flav., which smells like ketchup chips but also subtler tasting.

well being foods sweeping the nation!

BTW, emart also has ginger ale~but before you get too excited, it's made by haitai and is pretty weak tasting as well(only 0.04%ginger), but not bad, have a special on 2X360ml for 990.

Since we are on the subject. Never thought of posting this before, but Homeplus (Yong Ho, Metro) also has ginger ale, but it's organic, which means it's something ridiculous like 3000 a can. But if you were desparate for rye and ginger you might be tempted. Never tried it so can't pass comment on taste.

I picked a few bags up the other day; they're about as tasty as the shrimp chips sold by our host nation--nary a taste of vinegar to be found. That being said, Homeplus has brought back their plain krinkle cut chips (price has gone up about 100 won), but they're not in the same packaging as before--it's a red and orange bag, and they run for about 1,300 each.

Tried that ginger ale. Not bad, good as a mixer with spirits.

Tried the chips mentioned by matt at the start of this thread. Pretty good imo, and I have always preferred crinkle cut chips. Definitely a nice change from plain or onion (Korean) potato chips... I cant stand Lays (the stacked ones) or Pringles.

Yeah those red vinegar chips are OK. I tried some real ones on a recent trip back home and they were too strong! I've got a bit soft living in Korea!
