Does anybody know where I can buy '00' flour for making pasta?

Thanks
busanfoodguy
pizza flour is high glutin flour.. you can buy GLUTIN through several of the online food shops that I have posted. They will ship it to your address.

Mine was bought at: http://www.vegefood.co.kr/

글루텐
5,000원

You may find it with Hanguel spelling: ka lu tain

or try at: http://www.ilovecookie.co.kr/acecart/bin/shop.cgi

IF you can't handle ordering from a Korean website, just contact : http://www.ezshopkorea.com/
and let them order it for you.

Actually '00' flour has nothing to do with gluten, it is to do with how finely milled the flour has been, 00 being the finest.

Have a look at this website (http://www.fornobravo.com/brick_oven_cooking/pizza_ingredients/flour.html), a brief excerpt is here

"One misunderstanding is that Tipo 00 is pizza flour -- which is not right."

I appreciate you taking the time to reply but when you answer a different question, it really isn't very useful to me.

I'm no expert but I thought that pasta was made from durum wheat flour. Is that same or different to 00 flour?

If it's the same you are kinda of in luck. I know the Asia Mart in Seoul (far I know, but if you knew someone going up) has it. Or maybe if you are lucky maybe the Asia Marts in Sasang sell them.

It's also available online at the following shop http://www.otth.co.kr/shop/goods/goods_vie...goodsno=9995462

The same shop also sells pasta machines

Let us know if that flour is the correct sort because now I am now very tempted to order myself!

I just became a member of the site and it's really easy. You don't even need an Alien ID number to join. Just e-mail.

As far as i'm aware pasta is best made from durum wheat flour (I actually think it is a law in italy to make the dried variety is made from durum wheat) but the 00 grading is the way italians grade how finely milled the flour is, 00 being very fine indeed and perfect of making pasta. Seeing as durum wheat is almost exclusively used for pasta I think that nay you find may well be good enough for pasta. Give it a go and let me know how it turns out.

I thought you were the one who wanted it?

I am the one who wants it but I want to buy it in Busan and not over the net. He knows where to get it on the net and seems happy to buy it on the net, I don't want it so badly that I have to go through the process of asking one of my co-workers to help me buy it.

Helpful post though, you really must have loads of spare time to cruise the forums looking for penetrating questions you can ask.

Robguy are you new to Korea or just Busan? (I am assuming your new from the amount of posts you have made) . Ordering online is super easy, unless you haven't picked up the language yet or own Korean debit/credit card, then it's pretty much impossible! If that is the case I recommend you explore my original suggestion of the Asia Marts in Sasang. Check out the pinned post at the top of this forum for details and directions.
