In Sasang, did you try all three of them?

Well the other two are just around corners from Ali's Asia Mart. You should be able to find more precise directions on here.

Where in Busan or Daegu can one find chick peas?

Daegu Costco doesn't carry them.

In Busan Mega Mart (definitely Namcheon store, can't confirm others but probably) canned chick peas in imported goods section.

Dried chick peas probably in most of the Asia Mart type places. In Busan those are mainly around Sasang station, probably you'll find similar type shops somewhere in Daegu. Search this forum for more info on the shops around Sasang.

Or you can make the tahini yourself:

* 5 cups sesame seeds
* 1 1/2 cups olive oil or vegetable oil

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350. Toast sesame seeds for 5-10 minutes, shaking the seeds frequently with a spatula. Do not allow to brown. Cool for 20 minutes.

Pour sesame seeds into food processor and add oil. Blend for 2 minutes. Check for consistency. The goal is a thick, yet pourable texture. Add more oil and blend until desired consistency.

Yield: 4 cups

For sure you can make the tahini yourself but a lot of the sesame seeds that you buy in Korea are already fried! If the bottle/jar/bag says 볶음참깨or 볶음통깨 then the sesame seeds are already fried (볶음 means fried). However, I am no expert and I have lightly toasted them in a pan on the stove before making hummus here and found that it brought out the flavour a little more. Just thought that I'd throw that out there.

As for getting Tahini at Asia Mart, you have to ask them, as they keep it behind the counter. They make it themselves and it comes in a tupperware container for 5000 won, I think.

Sorry I did not respond before, but I just saw this thread. I bought some tahini at the original Asia Mart on the side street two weeks ago. You have to ask for it because they keep it behind the counter. They had lots of it when I was there.
