Willing to travel, though not out of the city limits. I know fresh herbs are hard to come by around here but if anyone out there's seen any fresh thyme, holla atcha boy in this thread!

Help me on this! I'm trying to whip up something dynamite from the Jamie Oliver cookbook. I was able to find truffle oil in Busan, but no fresh thyme? Seems a farcical tragedy.

Have you tried E-Mart? I know that that they carry fresh herbs, but I haven't specifically looked for thyme. It's possible they have it, though.

Do you know the gardener's/plant market out in Bansong? You can get thyme and rosemary plants out there. Small ones cost only 1500~2500 and sometimes they have medium to large ones for about 10,000. much cheaper than buying the small packet at the store. If you harvest the entire small plant you'd get way more than in a store bought package, or you could continue to cultivate it and always have fresh thyme! Although i find herbs a bit harder to take care of then other plants.
The only thing is I'm not sure if they'd be selling them this time of year. they always have them in spring and summer. But it's worth a trip out anyways they have tons of house plants herbs, and vegetables even fruit trees(when in season). Hot peppers which flower year round, they are like habanero. Tear jerking hot. And everything is at a whole sale price.
It's located right next to the expressway which leads to PNU. The only bus I know of off hand that goes there is #112, which you can get on in Allack-dong near the rotary.

Namcheon Megamart has fresh thyme, but like their fresh cilantro, it's somewhat sporatic. Three out of four times they have cilantro, and it's about the same for thyme. So, if they don't have it when you're there, try again. Herbs tend to freeze pretty OK if you plan on using them within a month. So, if you're there on a day when they have a lot of what you want, buy two or three and stick what you don't immediately need in the freezer.

I saw some at homever, I think. Most plan shops will carry the fresh stuff, then you can grow as much as you want!
