I bought some dried chickpeas at Asia Mart today (my first time there, very good store and great English speakers!) but I now realize I have to idea what to do w/them! I normally buy the canned chickpeas back in the states. Do I just soak them?

On another unrelated note- Where the heck can I buy some chicken or veggie broth? Ive looked at th Gaya Homeplus and the Sasang E Mart, but no dice. I went down every aisle, but maybe I am blind.

Thanks!

Try soaking the chickpeas overnight with a pinch of baking soda (and salt). I've also heard of people adding flour to the water, but have never tried it. Then boil them in fresh water until they're soft (this can still take a while).

Can't help with the veggie broth, but I think some of the Asia Mart-type places sell chicken broth cubes (Please let me know if you ever find veggie broth!!!)

I've actually gotten vegetarian broth at Home plus a couple of times.

canned chicken broth is readily available at MegMart or Heundae HomeEver. However, the dried boullion versions are more common in many stores..

Use the internet to search for info on "how to cook chickpeas"

Megamart is in the foreign goods section which is immediately on your left when you walk in.
