Hi sushi lovers! I've got great news for you if you love sushi, but hate high prices. My girlfriend and I recently stumbled upon and have now become regulars at an awesome sushi buffet in Kyungsung. The restaurant is called Green Mong and it's located in the Century Building in Kyungsungdae. The great price includes all you can drink soft drinks, beer, salad bar, and of course tons of extremely delicious sushi of all types. If there's something special you're after, ask Michael the English speaking sushi chef and he'll happily hook it up for you.

To get there walk out exit #3 off of the subway, take a left on the street that 'ol 55 and Vinyl Underground are on, and Green Mong will be on your immediate right in the basement of the building. Head down the stairs and into sushi heaven!

Green Mong is open 7 Days a week

Lunch runs from 11:30-2:30 for 13,000 M-F
Dinner runs from 5:30-9:00 for 15,000 M-F

The weekend schedule is the same, but the price is 15,000 for both lunch and dinner.
The restaurant is closed every third Monday of the month.

Enjoy!!!

Sounds great! Does the buffet include sushi rolls?

Ahhhh...just returned from another delicious lunch at Green Mong. I spoke with Michael the sushi chef while I was there and he told me it'd be alright if I posted his cell phone number so that people can call ahead with questions and/or reservations. Here it is:

Enjoy!!!

We just got back from Green Mong, with bellies hurting. We went for my wife's birthday, so we called ahead with a reservation. While unnecessary, it meant that Michael hooked us up with two prawn platters, plus a salmon-and-eel birthday sashimi special that was simply amazing.
It's easy to find, a large neon sign means only the blind would face any difficulties, although the price is 15,000 PER HOUR. In one way that sucks, but in another way an hour of endless sushi is really quite enough. One of our Korean friends haggled, and we got 1.5 hours instead of an hour since we were a party, but realistically we were done eating after 60 minutes, we just squeezed in another beer or two before we ran out of time.
The setup is in the Japanese style, with a conveyor belt full of all types of food, with rolls, sashimi, tempura, plus other stuff, including frozen persimmon (weird...). The beer is Hite, as tasty as ever, and the salad bar is small but good, and does include a bit of raw fish in addition to pasta salads and regular green salad.
Michael is very friendly, the restaurant is clean and new-looking, service was generally good although our plates did pile up a bit at times, and all the food was top-notch - honestly better quality than we were expecting. One of our Korean co-teachers has told us there is another similar place, called Sushi Mong, that is closer to where we live, so we'll probably check that out sometime soon. Green Mong, however, is very, very good, and we will definitely go back again soon. Do your sushi-loving-self a favor and eat there soon.

im not big on the all-raw stuff, do they have other rolls, like spider rolls or crunchy shrimp rolls?

thanks!

In addition to tempura, they've got another fried basket, plus a roll with cheese on top, but honestly most of it is raw. However, as mentioned above, Michael the sushi chef is friendly and helpful, I am sure if you called ahead of time and explained what you wanted he would make some rolls to your liking. He really aims to please.

I finally had an opportunity to check this place out yesterday. Highly recommended and one hour is plenty. We reached the point where we couldn't eat anymore long before the hour was up. I passed on the Hite, thanks, but coffee and tea as you wish. Same for the salad bar. Didn't sample that either, I'll stick to the sushi in a sushi bar. Michael the sushi chef is super friendly and made separate platters for both my friend and I without our asking for them. Price was up to 16,500, but still worth it. Highly recommended and if you still haven't been there yet, you owe it to yourself to treat yourself! Check it out today.
