Supermarkets:

(Hannam and Haddon are the grocery stores for the many embassies located nearby. You can get foods from all over the world! Italian, Mexican, American, Thai, Indian, etc. AND, they will deliver to Pusan! Hannam is (without doubt) the BEST market for an extensive selection, but if they don't have what you want, then Haddon may have it. )

Hannam Supermarket: [long walk from the Itaewon]
(B1 of the Volvo Building before you reach the Hannam Bridge on-ramp) This supermarket is slightly overpriced, but you can get things like fresh basil and other fresh herbs and spices. Great frozen meats, vegetables, deserts, fast foods, tortillas, and other exotic stuff. Extensive selection, plus they deliver nationally, go to their web site. There are also two small shops in the basement next to the entrance. One sells a wide array of imported cheese (blue, apellenzer, gruyere) cold cuts (salami, chorizo etc..) and yummy bread. The other sells miscellaneous imported goods, like dried beans/lentils, cereals, and OTC medical products. The market and two delis are in the basement. A taxi will cost 2500 won from the Itaewon. OR, take the subway to Hangangjin (one stop away from the Itaewon), exit, then look for and walk to the Volvo Building. Its easy to see.

The Supermarket under Gecko`s Terrace on Itaewon Dong:
This is a pretty good supermarket and conviently located right off of Itaewon dong for those who aren`t buying too much and want to take a taxi afterwards. A lot of foreigners shop here and they have all the basic foodstuffs here. There is a limited array of imported goods.

Home Mart at Chung Hwa Apts:
If you are on Itaewon Dong and you turn down the Burger King Street, you will see Chung Hwa Apt. Homemart is there and there is parking. This supermarket has just been renovated and now you can get all kinds of imported goods such as cheeses, and cold cuts. The produce is fresh and its location is convenient for those living in Itaewon.

Halal Shop in the alley behind the Hamilton Hotel/Itaewon (across from Three Alley Pub and Le saint Ex) This small market sells things you need to make Indian or Middle Eastern food. They have spices you can`t find elsewhere and other things like Basmati rice, pre-mixed marinades and Lamb (They have surprisingly big freezers!) This shop supplies alot of the restaurants around town.

There is also a "halal" grocery store near the entrance to the mosque.

Shinsegae Dept. Store at the Express Bus Terminal Station:
This supermarket rocks! The only thing they don`t have is specialty imported cheese. There is kimchee of every kind, a huge produce section selling all kinds of meats, fresh fish and sweet strawberries, and great veggies for mixed salads. Its price is comparable to Hannam supermarket.

TAEGU:

DONG RIM Super. A small local shop filled with stuff from the army base. It is located with the shops that serve the Chung Un Mansion apartments. Phone: (053) 427-4356

Directions: [train to Taegu Yok train station, taxi to DAEBEC PLAZA (huge department store beside the expressway/river). Stand on the steps of Daebec Plaza, turn right to next intersection with the traffic light. Turn right and walk to second traffic light (where the road divides , a "Y" intersection). On your left will be the Chung Un Mansion Apartments. Go in 15 meters and follow the road left..just past the fruit shop on the corner you will see cases of pop and stuff, marking the store..

Nice roundup of the Seoul shopping scene there, foodguy.

Also may I add "sweet space" to your list of imported product providers.
They have a lot of foreign (cadbury!!) chocolate and candy, but also a good range of Western & Japanese condiments, pastas, cheeses & ground coffee (never tried it but it smells nice.)

The stores aren't huge, in fact they are pretty small. But it's the only place in Seoul that will sell you a cadbury flake!

Located in COEX (near the underground entrance to Hyundai Dept store,) and Yeoksam Dong (Yeoksamro between the old Yeoksam tax office & Gangnam Wal Mart.)

I recently went on a purchasing spree for "foreign " goods.. I discovered that the Hannam Super has stopped stocking many items, replacing them with Kirkland/Costco brand items.

Dandy's Grocery (02-796-2390) and Hansel & Gretel Deli (02-749-0120) still have complete stocks of foreign items.. The Deli is expensive!

Haddon Supermarket is THE PLACE to go !!! It has an absolutely incredible collection of foreign products. Everything from
Vietnamese vodka to New Zealand lamb. Lots of cheeses and sausages. Turkeys. French duck. Frozen Pot Pies. Pita and nan and tortillas.
Frozen vegetables, frozen ready to eat, frozen fruit. Huge selection of dried pastas. Baking supplies. Spices,,,even molasses.
Laundry supplies. International beers.

Opem 8:30 to 9 PM. Great English customer service. Phone: (02-794-0511)
Located just past the UN Village in front of Hannam Heitz Apats. From the Itaewon, a taxi might cost 3000 won.
Call and ask about shipping.
