I will have to do get a new visa soon and was wondering if anyone had done visa runs to locations other than Japan, since I've been there so many times and was also hoping to combine the run with a mini vacation, preferably somewhere warm.

Vietnam
Phillipines China etc. Pretty well anywhere where there is a consulate you can do it. It will come down to how much you are willing to spend... |

Once I was in the same situation as you. Where I went was Manila which was nice and a good change, also I chose it because a Filipino student whom I had met not long before offered to help show me around. I will have to say that it was not processed as fast as it is in Fukuoka, and they were not as efficient or cordial. Also the building is not as nice as the ones is Japan. Actually it was an office in a high rise and not its own building like in Fukuoka.
China does not seem to be a option. I am adding this because you would have to get a visa in order to get a visa. Unless of course you could do it in Hong Kong or maybe Macau. Then you might want to consider trying other cities in Japan. That is if you have only tried Fukuoka. This also reminds me when I was doing these to Fukuoka I would try and see something different each time I was there. There was a brochure available called "Fukuoka on Foot" that had 12 walking tours all connected somehow with the rail system. These routes would take you by the various museums and other attractions some of which have free admission. I was planning to do all of them and think that I made it up to about 8 or 9. |

I know you can get it done in Osaka as well, but I've been there umpteen times as well.
At the moment I am angling toward Bangkok. Anyone been there (for visa purposes)? |

Guam? Now, I do believe there is a Korean consulate there but the problem is the flight. I am speaking out of experience having been there twice. The problem is that you depart here later in the evening and arrive there early morning. The return is kind of strange or inconvenient as well. Staying longer than just two days or nights might help to make this a little better. There is also no real cheap places to stay over in Guam unless you know someone there. |
